Trades/Career

Today’s blog is all about our recent field trip, which was a much-needed break from the routine we’ve been stuck in for the past few years. When I first joined GETA, we were promised loads of field trips, and while we did get a few in freshman year, the pandemic threw a wrench in things during sophomore year. It was a bit of a letdown.

The past couple of years have been filled with virtual experiences and social distancing, which, let’s be honest, just isn’t the same as the real thing. But huge shoutout to our teachers for doing their best to make those online sessions engaging.

Now, fast forward to today, and the excitement for an actual field trip was off the charts. The added bonus of swag—like cool accessories and clothing—just made things even better. When we got to the venue, it was buzzing with different booths from companies showcasing all sorts of trades and careers.

What was really awesome were the hands-on activities that some companies offered. Getting to try out different trades firsthand was super interesting and sparked a lot of curiosity about potential career paths for the future.

Overall, the field trip was a blast and a great learning experience. We not only learned about various trades and careers but also walked away feeling excited about what’s ahead. Plus, the swag was a pretty sweet bonus!
